Nou Camp, also known as 'Camp Nou', designed by Architects Francesc Mitjans Miró, Miró-Sans cousin, and Josep Soteras Mauri is known as one of the most famous stadiums in the world. The stadium cost a total of 288 million pesetas to build and presently boasts the largest capacity of all general playing field style stadia in Europe.
The stadium is a bowl shape and originally has a running track circling the perimeter of the pitch, the pitch level has since been lowered (by removing the running track) to increase the capacity of the stadium to its present level without having to perform major construction work to the exterior of the stadium and keeping its original coliseum style facade.
Nou Camp has been the home of cash stricken Barcelona CF since its completion in 1956. The first game was played on Septenber 24 1957
