Corby Town's move to the brand new Rockingham Triangle Stadium in 1985 was tinged with sadness - for it ended a long association with their first ground at Occupation Road which stands ghost like awaiting the sound of building work.
Not so long ago the only noise to be heard was from the packed terraces.
In October 1949 Corby's great FA Cup triumph over Peterborough United attracted 7,164 and a year later 9,273 attended a local derby with Kettering Town - a record which was soon shattered twice wit6hin weeks in 1952 for cup ties against the Poppies (9,812) and the Posh (an all time high of 10,239).
And during their Midland League time 6,294 squeezed in to witness the championship decider with Nottingham Forest Reserves and 8,086 for Peterborough's visit.
Then in the mid-60's the prospect of a giantkilling act brought them flocking in against Bristol City (5,009), Hartlepool (4,511) and Luton (6,421) while four figure gates were common even in the bread and butter stuff. Changed Days Indeed!
